Employable Me

I’m a producer with TV production company called Optomen. We are making the second series of the hugely successful Employable Me for the BBC.

The first series explored the difficulties people with neuro diverse conditions, such as Autism and Tourette’s face when it comes to finding a job. The main difference for series two is that we are also following individuals with physical disabilities and conditions. Plus, we are broadening our search from not just unemployed to people who are not fulfilling their potential in their current role. Our aim is to help more people in series two and there will be different levels of involvement.

At the heart of the series is the increasing recognition that these disabilities and  conditions should not be seen as a barrier to meaningful employment. In fact, research has found that such conditions can confer talents and skills that benefit businesses hugely. Overall it was and will continue to be a very positive and beneficial experience for all involved in the series.

I hope to reach out to the restricted growth community in the UK who would be happy and comfortable to talk to me about their condition and struggle to find employment and might like to be involved in the second series. This would be an email/ chat on the phone to begin with. I am hoping to speak to people who have been out of work but are really keen to find employment and feel their condition might have been the barrier employers held against them.

If you would like to find out more about the series, I would love to chat further.
