Little People UK have contacted the LPUK Medical Board to seek guidance regarding the impact of COVID19 on people with dwarfism.

We have received the following information:

We are not aware of any extra vulnerability of people with dwarfism to catch COVID19, unless they have associated immune deficiency such as cartilage-hair hypoplasia and Scimke immune-osseous dysplasia, these members could be at a higher risk of a severe form of COVID19.

Children are likely to cope with virus much better than adults, it is expected that this would be the same for people with dwarfism. Unless they have secondary issues such as severe obesity, or need ventilatory support, these individuals may be at greater risk of coping with COVID19.

It is advised to follow the same guidance as everyone else, practice social distancing, wash hands regularly
