Disability Living Allowance (DLA)/Personal Independance Payment (PIP)
Last weekend, Little People UK's 'DLA/PIPs working group' met to discuss the pertinent matter of the transition from DLA to PIPs, which we know is currently a huge cause for concern to our members, and many others within the dwarfism community.
We are aware of several members who have already had their allowances removed, and are either going through appeals or struggling without this assistance. We know action is needed urgently.
LPUK are investigating a number of avenues to help provide the support our members require. For example; sourcing professional help, speaking with members of parliament and generally gathering as much information about the process as possible, with the aim of publishing an advisory section on this website. Further to this, we have plans to incorporate a DLA/PIP workshop into the programme of events at LPUK's 5th Annual Convention, later in the year.
In the meantime, we are building a FAQ section on this website to help answer some of the most common questions and alleviate some of the most immediate concerns.
If you have any useful information/advice you can pass on, both positive and negative, about the initial application or appeal process, please don't hesitate to get in touch via our contact page, in confidence..
