Hello Everyone,
First of all I would like to take this opportunity to thank each and everyone of you who has supported LPUK through-out this last year. Wow what a year it’s been!
This year was a big milestone for LPUK! It has been 10 years since the charity was co-founded by our long standing President Warwick Davis and his wife Samantha. The passion and enthusiasm they showed has enabled the charity to grow successfully and I know the committee will endeavour to continue their hard work in the future.
This year saw the return of our National Convention at Chesford Grange, Kenilworth, this was our first convention since Covid and WOW! What an event it was. It was so nice to see so many new faces and lots of returning faces too. We would like to thank everyone who attended.
LPUK have some exciting projects coming up one of which is creating 2 booklets which we hope will become a valuable resource for LPUK focusing on hospital experiences for LP adults and parents of LP children offering advice and guidance to make the experience as smooth as possible. It is hoped that they will be launched late spring/early summer 2023.
The committee are currently hard at work planning Little People UK’s 10 Year Celebration event, which is being held at The Jury’s Inn Hotel, Milton Keynes on Saturday 18th February 2023. More details can be found on our website and social media channels. The booking deadline for this event is 24th December for secure price room bookings and 6th February for day delegate bookings. As previously announced, an AGM will be taking place at this event in February. This will also be to vote and elect a new committee for 2023/24. It is anticipated there are at least 4 spaces to fill, two of which will include the chair and vice chair position, following my planned departure at the end of February. Nominations will open in the new year and the deadline for committee nominations is Friday 3rd February 2023.
The membership programme that was suspended during the covid pandemic is to be reinstated in the new year. All members must have up to date membership to attend events, stand for the next committee term or to formally vote at the AGM. If anybody is thinking about stepping forward to join the committee and wants to know more about what the role entails please feel free to email me on (emma.belcher.lpuk@hotmail.com) and I’ll be happy to assist where I can.
