Congratulations to you all!

Award winners 2024

Winner – George Harris (0-11)

This person has this year navigated reception class. Not only that but they also went to his sister’s school for Dwarfism Awareness Day and did a presentation in assembly in-front of the whole school! They spoke about dwarfism, how his bones are smaller and his head is bigger… to fit his king size brain! He has had frustrating times but has overcome them all.

Winner – Robbie Gargan (12-18)

After a very difficult time at secondary school, this person then transitioned to college two years ago. At first they lacked in confidence and self-esteem; but has since shown significant resilience- making new friends in a new environment, whilst also exceeding all expectations.

Despite the challenges of hospital appointments; they have embraced the opportunities given to them- taking on a ‘Preparation for Life course’ as well as volunteer work and shadowing in their chosen subject. This individual was put forward for this award for their hard work, positive attitude and sheer determination to over come challenges and pursue their passion; a true example that anything is possible.

Winner – Emily Williams (19+)

This person was nominated for this award for being, in her families eyes… one amazing human! She is a caring individual who always puts others before herself; giving 110% no matter what is thrown at her. She has never let dwarfism get in the way of anything that she does, and that includes her career. Working as an Occupational Therapist she treats all her patients with the utmost respect and always goes the extra mile when she can.

Winner – Connor Reilly (Committee Award)

This year didn’t start easy for this individual, with multiple surges and complications following. However in spite of this, they didn’t lose their positive spirit or sense of humour- making all of the nurses laugh; and taking everything in their stride- so much so they were that determined to make it home- that walked the whole length of the ward and went home the same day! Despite both medical and personal challenges, they continued to work hard in their academics and revise for their GCSES. This individual has also since had their assessment to drive- where they were told they were a natural. This individual has been given this award for their determination when things got hard, and their courage to continue working to achieve their goals.

Winner – Matt and Sara Taylor (Special Recognition Award)

This years special recognition award goes to two people- and recognises support shown to Little People UK for over a decade. In the last 10 years LPUK have grown from strength to strength but that is only possible due to the support of not only our membership, but partners, organisations and professionals who enable our work to continue. The receivers of this award have dedicated not only time to the charity, but skills, knowledge and experience; supporting members with consultations, workshops advice and support. Not just that, but they are key members of the LPUK family always there with a friendly face and flying the LPUK flag. This year, they have especially been a huge support to the LPUK committee to which we are truly grateful for.
