October marked Dwarfism Awareness Month 2026, and what a busy month it was for Little People UK!
Throughout October we shared daily posts across our social media platforms, highlighting different aspects of dwarfism, celebrating our community and sharing information to help educate the wider public. Our posts covered a range of topics, encouraging conversations about representation, accessibility, inclusion and the everyday experiences of people with dwarfism. Thank you to everyone who liked, commented on and shared our posts. Every interaction helps us reach new audiences and spread greater understanding of dwarfism.
As part of our awareness activities we were pleased to hold a webinar with Victim Support Wales, for the third year running, providing an opportunity to raise awareness of dwarfism and the connection to hate crime and other incidents. A huge thank you to Victim Support Wales for once again taking the time to hold this webinar and share their knowledge, helping our community better understand the support available.
One of the most visible ways of marking Dwarfism Awareness Month is through buildings and landmarks lighting up green, the colour associated with dwarfism awareness. This year, we were delighted to see Cardiff Castle and Mersey Gateway Bridge lit green upon request of our supporters, thank you to everyone who helped arrange these.
We also held some great online session, giving opportunities for our members to come together, our online Art with Annabelle session provided a relaxed and welcoming opportunity for members to learn some fantastic drawing techniques, and our online Halloween biscuit decorating session gave members the chance to get creative with some spooky treats while enjoying a relaxed social activity together.
Although Dwarfism Awareness Month has come to an end for another year, our work to promote understanding, representation and inclusion continues throughout the year.
