In July 2024 representatives of Little People UK were in attendance at the Wales Mobility and Driving Assessment Centre taster day, giving those in attendance the opportunity to try out an adapted car on a safe test track, with a qualified assessor.
Danielle Webb (Vice Chairperson), Gaby Boyle (Committee member) and Rebecca Nuttall (Charity Administrator) attended the day, speaking to members of the community who tried out the adapted cars and received feedback for what adaptations would be suitable.
Whilst there Danielle took her first drive in an adapted car, using pedal extensions and back cushions, there were also a wide range of additional adaptions for a variety of disabilities, all with the aim of giving attendees independence and confidence to learn to drive.
We also networked with representatives from Shine and Pedal Power, allowing us to make connections and giving us further support to our members. We are looking forward to working with everyone in the future and already have plans to attend the event in 2025.
