From 28th–30th August 2026, we had a wonderful time at the Little People UK Annual Convention at Chesford Grange, welcoming more than 200 people for a fantastic weekend filled with workshops, activities, informative sessions, entertainment and, most importantly, opportunities to spend time together as a community.
The weekend began on Friday afternoon with a visit from Matt’s Minibeasts, who brought along some fascinating friends, including lizards, snakes and spiders. Attendees had the opportunity to get up close, hold some of the creatures and learn more about them.
We also held our First Time Attendees Meeting, giving those joining an LPUK Annual Convention for the first time the opportunity to meet others, find out more about the weekend and receive a warm welcome into the LPUK community.
Friday evening saw everyone embrace our pirate themed night, with some fantastic costumes, games, a disco and a delicious ‘Best of British’ buffet. It was the perfect way to begin the weekend and gave everyone the chance to catch up with old friends and make new ones.
Saturday was filled with a wide variety of workshops, information sessions and activities for all ages. Our programme included mental wellbeing workshops, a medical panel, a physiotherapy session and an informative panel focusing on hate crime. We also held a confidence-building workshop designed to support self-esteem, confidence and positive self-image across a range of ages.
Alongside these sessions, attendees could enjoy art, dance, crafts and drama, as well as an energetic game of laser tag.
We were delighted to welcome a number of organisations and companies to our Expo, showcasing products, information and services that may benefit members of our community now or in the future. Attendees could also visit our LPUK merchandise stand and recycling station.
This year also saw the launch of our inaugural LPUK Art Exhibition, where members were invited to bring along their own artwork to display. It was wonderful to celebrate the creativity and talent within our community and to see such a fantastic range of work on show.
Saturday evening gave everyone the opportunity to dress up and enjoy formal photographs before sitting down together for a fantastic three-course banquet.
During the evening, we held our Positively Unique Awards, including recognition of our Fundraising Heroes, as well as taking time to celebrate the achievements and memorable moments of the past 12 months.
The celebrations continued with our brilliant disco, where everyone danced the night away with friends old and new.
On Sunday morning it was time to say our goodbyes after another memorable LPUK weekend. It was an opportunity to reflect on the experiences we had shared, the memories we had made and the friendships that make our community so special, while already beginning to look forward to what the next 12 months will bring.
Our 2026 Annual Convention was an amazing weekend, and we would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make it so special.
We are incredibly grateful to all our volunteers, speakers, panellists, workshop leaders, activity providers, exhibitors and everyone else who gave their time and support throughout the weekend.
Most of all, thank you to our members, families and friends for continuing to make the LPUK Annual Convention such a welcoming, supportive and enjoyable weekend.
We can’t wait to do it all again next year!
